Best for Dry Hair
Overview and Methodology
Anything having to do with hair care is difficult to review and to rate. This is because each shampoo is specifically designed to do something for a particular type of hair. A shampoo designed for dry hair will likely make oily hair look lifeless at best, so it's really important to know what type of hair you have when looking for new shampoos. If you don't know by just touching it, ask your stylist. They see a lot of heads every day and they'll be able to tell you how to classify your hair for shampoos.
We found a bunch of great products that many people consider to be the best shampoo around, at least for their type of hair. We, as we always do, start off with looking over what the fashion experts think about shampoos. We've found that this can be a great starting point, but they typically feature new products every year that their advertisers want them to look at. No, we are not saying it's pay to play, but we like to have a very wide base of reviews to go thru and a lot of people that have tried or tested the products. Once we have a universe of products that we want to look at, then we put them thru our live testing.
Our testers as well as most conscious buyers wanted sulfate free products as they tend to not do things to your hair that you don't want to happen (like dry it out). When looking for a shampoo, make sure that you're not trying to accomplish and solve for lots of types of hair. We found that there were no real shampoos that worked for everyone in the house - unless of course everyone really does have the same hair. That wasn't the case for most of our testers. We highly recommend all of the products that we feature here. We particularly love DevaCurl products as they are unique and every curly head raved about their product line.
